Vacation Part 3: Hilton Head Island, SC

Hilton Head Island

Part 3 of our vacation took place with the Hab's side of the family in Palmetto Dunes resort on HHI. We all arrived late afternoon on Saturday, July 25th. Kyle, Stacey, Alex, and I drove down from Charleston while Bev, Kevin, and Kelsey came from Atlanta.

The house was very large and had a great pool in the backyard. It was perfect and had a ton of space for us! The resort was more of a neighborhood. Our house was situated about a 5 min. bike ride from the beach. We would load up the bikes and baby carriers and be there in no time! The development didn't have a community pool, but it did have tennis courts and golf courses. We didn't get around to using either amenity, sadly.

Saturday afternoon, Kyle, Alex, Stacey, Kelsey, and I went to Sam's club to get groceries. Holy cow. I've never spent so much on food, and it didn't even get us through 1/2 the week! We decided that each couple would be in charge of dinner one night, and we would go out to eat two nights. We were extremely efficient and made great time at the store. Impressive for 5 people!

I'm not going to go into crazy detail about each day, but picture beach time, golf for the guys, pool time each afternoon, and great meals.

These pictures are super out of order.

I'm still regretting my dress choice...

Shopping at another development on a rainy day!

I love this tree!

A pic of the house.

The dining room where we had wonderful meals!

I took bike rides each morning and explored the development.

East Coast beaches are very hard and flat. This made them great for bike rides, bocce ball, soccer, and walks. I didn't find them as pretty as the Gulf sides beaches

Loaded down!

Two words: Hush. Puppies.

Biking to the beach!

Blurry, but Kyle loved driving the mini van.

I was a total creeper, but I thought these three matching boys were so cute!

A man caught a 4-5 ft shark out there! Scary! I don't understand why people felt the need to fish while others were swimming.

Vacation Part 2: Charleston, SC

We had a day between my family vacation ending, and Kyle's sides starting and we decided to spend it in Charleston! It was a jam-packed 24 hours spent in an incredible city!

We flew in about 1pm on Friday, July 24th. We decided to take our first Uber ride and it worked out perfectly and cost a lot less than a taxi would have. We can't wait for this service to take off in Kansas City!

We had such an adorable Bed & Breakfast that had the perfect location. We stayed at King's Courtyard Inn. A lot of B&B's were already full when we booked, but we were very happy with our decision. It had a great location and was in easy walking distance to pretty much everything. We did a ton of walking (and eating).

A pic of a room similar to ours:

We had a view of the courtyard.

We decided to spend the afternoon exploring the city. We walked through neighborhoods, and saw all the major sights!

This one was my favorite!
 Walking along the Battery.

Beautiful park with gorgeous views!

Brunch on Saturday at Poogan's Porch

Church Street

Cobblestone Streets!

Super cute alley way

We cleaned up and changed clothes for dinner at Toast (we know it's typically a breakfast place!).  We headed out for a beautiful walk after.

We grabbed drinks at a bar on top of the Vendue Hotel (Inn?) and had an awesome time. It absolutely poured so it was a great place to get out of the rain and see the city.

This place. OHMYWORD. It was a dessert only bar. Dessert? YES PLEASE! We split some kind of chocolate cake and a yummy hard apple cider drink.

Saturday morning we had brunch at Poogan's Porch and decided to take a horse-drawn-carriage tour.

Our tour guide was very knowledgable!

View of our hotel's street!

Champs for our 2nd Anniversary (two months late!)

I reallllllyyy wanted this coffee table book!

We had an awesome 24 hours filled with yummy southern food and lots of sights! This is definitely a favorite city of mine and I would love to come back.

Stacey and Alex picked us up in the rental car Saturday afternoon and we headed to Hominy Grill for lunch before our trekk to Hilton Head.

We loved Charleston!
